Ok, I have this supra, according to the owners manual it's an '86, but everytime i go online to find images or infor about it..I get a diff. looking model for the '86's...the one I have is more sleek, and longer..at least to me it looks like that, like the 86.5 and up. Tell me what you think of the car anyhow, and if you can help on what model it is, MARK1,2,3, that would help, also what parts can I add to the engine?..i want a to know if you can add a Cold air intake or a short ram intake? This is my first Supra and want to know if there parts that are available for such and older model. Thanks!

I don't know how to post multiple pics in one post, so I'm putting a reply with the 2nd pic of the engine.

You already have an intake fliter. It's an non-turbo.One thing you can do is have a vin check on it to be sure hat year it is,one place you can have done is at your local toyota dealer.Hopes this helps.

I suggest you swap the engine from the 200hp 7MGE to the 280hp 1JZGTE twin turbo. If you look in ebay you will find motors for about 1500 complete with Tranny wiring and computer.

As Jimi 87t said it is probably an 86.5 if that manual that you have with it is the manual that should be with the car. It is definitely the 7m-ge non turbo. It is atleast 86.5 possible up to a 92...I can't see your tails though or front and you have an aftermarket wing so I can't tell you for sure. Best thing to do is get a vin check anyway....but, if you have two square shaped tail that are obviously separated and don't have a reflector piece that fits in between them then you should have the 86.5-88. Also if those are the wheels that really came with the car then it is no younger than a 90..the 91 and 92 supras came with "premium" 5 spokes. No, matter what year it actually is...it is definitely an mk3 Roll Eyes. And yes I am not a fan of the 7m-ge either...you should do a motor swap...you want turbo bro. Here...just to help...MK3 COMPLETE History and Timeline....learn the basics...you do own a supra now. Wink

    holy resurection batman!

edit: SLCTragedymkiii- bullshit. there were no production line 86.5 mkiii's even if it says its an 86.5 its still an 87 model year. the turbo model mkiii started in 1987.

maybe your car had a turbo swap done before you got it, but there was no turbo model in 1986.5.

    That is not entirely true.
the 87 was the first turbo model, but accoring to the dealers, the early 87 models are still considered 86.5. I have an 87, but they are manufacuted in 86 even though the date on the inside of the door panel says 87. I called toyota, and when they looked up my car, they said it was an 86, and I got into a big argument, so it is possible for the manufacture date to be in 86, but the official date when it was released was 87, I even have the original magazine article from 87 when it was first released.

    86 supra-
it is an mkIII non turbo. Prob 86.5-88.
check the inside of the door on the body. you'll see a date of production or something
Also, I do agree that the non turbo is better, but Untill you know a lot, your best best is to stay with what you have. Learn then do, not the other way around. It's easy to say motor swap, but a lot harder to do it. If anything, sell it after a while, and upgrade to a turbo model. Mods for your car, get exhaust, some electric fans may help, If its a 5 speed, short shifter, helps a little. I have heard of getting a replacement for the arm going from behind the air sensor( right behind the air filter) to the where the metal starts agian. You will get rid of that large resonator thing on the way. I think you can get them at autozone for a couple of bucks, and make some cupplers out of the old hose. good luck and have fun
