If I buy a front clip with the 1JZ, should I stick with the current tranny from the Mark III, or should I hold out until I get a 1JZ with the 5-speed already on it?

will a manual transmission from a 1JZ work with the other parts of the drivetrain on a US spec Mark III? Are there any other parts that I'll have watch out for in doing the swap? When I buy the clip, it will definitely have the tranny. I just wanted to make sure that I can use the whole thing (1JZ and tranny) when doing the swap, instead of paying a lot of money for an engine and a bunch of expensive parts I can't use.

will the driveshaft from a auto 7m fit a 5-speed 1jz?

The 1JZ-GTE comes with an R154 transmission, the same as the 7M-GTE, so it will bolt right in and you don't have to change anything in the drivetrain.
The tailshaft is a different length on automatic cars, so it won't work with a manual 1JZ transmission. Norbie! http://www.norbie.net |
