Background info:
89' w/ a 1jz swap Stock motor, 5spd, Stock twins, IC, IC, motor, 3" turbo back exhaust. I am helping a friend upgrade / replace his stock 1jz intercooler. I have a couple questions: "¢ What is the stock inlet/outlet for a 1jz? "¢ What is the recommend inlet/outlet for an upgrade good 400hp? "¢ Any bolt on recommended kits? "¢ What is the ideal intercooler size for stock MKIII bumper? Advice and links welcome, thanks. MKIII MR2 |

I believe the stock inlet is 65mm and the outlet to the manifold is 70mm.
If youre not upgrading the Intake manifold, then i would go 70mm (aka 2.75inches) In and out with a 3" core (76mm) A decent core size would probably be 22" x 9" x 3" or close to that. make sure the intercooler you get is Bar and Plate not extruded. "bolt on kits" ? Personaly if you want it cheep and easy get a 12pc universal intercooler piping kit and a "universal" intercooler off ebay. remember stock twins don't handle higher boost well, defiantly try to keep it under 14psi. |
