hey sup guys..im new 2 this forum but have been browsing it for quite a while. well my question is this...what is your view on a 1jz non vvti or a 1jz vvti swap for the is300?? is it totally un-practical or would it be respected. i have been looking into a 1jz swap forever and will like to know the pros & cons of doing this. will the 1jz mounts fit my 2jzge mounts and i know the single turbo will fit with little problems. how bout the 2jzge 5-speed tranny, will it bolt up to the 1jz?? and as for the ecu and harnesses, will the newer 1jz vvti ecu/harness be compatible with my ecu??

it will bolt up to the tranny, the harness will have to be extended 3ft, and you will need the 1jz ecu as well as the igniter, turbo pressure regulator and fuel pump relay. i have a supra though. and i also im currently swapping the 1jz. is it true that the is300 and the non turbo supra the same under the hood as far as electrical? like the fuse box and stuff.

uuhh, the harness only needs to be extended 2.3 feet. otherwise you would be left with alot of slack.
i freally want a IS300 for this sole reason. the swap should work out just fine. you would need a electrical wireing diagram from toyota/lexus for your car, AND THE TIME TO RESEARCH the swap. meaning time to sit on the computer and read. i could get you the ecu pinout for the 1jz ecu and the pinout of the dash plugs. only if you REALLY do this. i wont take up my time if it is just a flash in the pan so to say. no disrespect to you at all. i love the idea. buy a clip.

If you want a powerful engine in your IS300, ask Zero_One what he did to his NA Supra. Last I heard, he had 650hp from his 2JZ-GE - and he's running 4.11 gears. I have yet to ask that fool what he's running in the 1/4. It should be impressive - if he can launch well.
You can get a "starter kit" for about $5k, which should give your GE 320hp. What you do from there is your choice.. but a larger turbo, boost controller, injectors and a fuel management system would be all it would take to make more power.

the reason y i want to swap the motor is because to me i believe that messing with an engine that was originally not turbo is a lot of trouble.. i already have a buddy who blew his motor with a stg.2 setup. from past experiences i like oem..to me its more reliable. i know that going the 2jz route is even more hard because noting fits..and at least with the 1jz already being single turbo..it has a "more snug" type fit in my engine bay. i have really considered building my engine but with all the things i have learned with stock vs. aftermarket..stock will always win the battle. where could i find either a 1jz or 2jz-gte bottom end for a good price. because if my engine swap idea doesnt pull through...my plan is to have a 1j/or 2j bottom end to work with my head because i know it bolts up.

I saw this show called rides last week and they took a is300 and put a v8 in it. It was a yota motor from a higher end lex. It was bad ass. They even put in a supra 6spd. I think they called it the IS430.

You cant piss on what you cant catch.

Yeah, I saw the ads for that show, thought it was a disgrace to put anything but another Supra in there. But it was okay because they used the Lexus V8, not the damn i-Force.

Yea, be really original and go all motor all out.
zery boasts he can burn'em for about 250 feet.
But really just turbo the 2j. im sure you could find a ge turbo kit for that thing.
the only reason i said 2.3 feet is because i did mine 3 foot and i have ALOT of unwanted slack in the harness.

ive already considered turboing my ge..but theres far more consequences when doing so...i have a buddy with the peter ferell stage 2 turbo kit..and it ran beautifully...until a rod decided to give. with all the trouble of turboing a non-turbo engine..i believe that i'd be spending more on keeping the motor running. i have learned from his mistakes and would rather go through the hardships of wiring an ecu instead of dishing out cash..which i dont have..haha..in paying for parts that keep breaking?? its only logical right?
