Just joined the forum, so, umm hi. I am putting a 1jz in my 74 datsun 260z. I would like to rebuild the motor before I put it in but for the life of me I can't find a rebuild kit or seal kit or any such thing... Any ideas, suggestions? I would really be thankful. Thanks

you have a place where youre posting your progress? cardomain perhaps? im just curious, im currently doing a 1jz into my 944.
*disclaimer: im not responsible for this not to be true and possible demages* if you think its realy necessary, the head gasket should be same as 2jz i believe... i believe the same to be true for the rings.... the engines 1jz and 2jz are very simmilar, same bore, 2jz has longer stroke, not sure about the connecting rod bearings or front or rear seal.

The importer claimed 40,000 miles. Now I don't know about your guys, but the importers in my area are not the most trustworthy people...lol. So instead of the motor giving out once its in I am just going to rebuild right off the hop so there should be no backtracking required. I haven't really posted my progress anywhere yet but I could put it on cardomain if you want to see it. I am doing a frame up restore on the car. The bottom side is now done with all new suspension. Its now almost ready to go back on its belly.

When pulling the engine out of a car in japan they tag the engine with a label of how many miles it had. if its been taken off by the importer then it might not be accurate. then again i could be wrong. but I've seen a few imported engines and they all had similar stickers.
