I am just curious as to what all would have to be done in order to drop a 1JZ into my '89. I can't decide if i want to go with the 1JZ or the 7M-GTE. The amout of modifications required will probably dictate which engine i go with. I am also open to any advice or recommendations as far as which engine to go with.

ive done 3 7mgte swaps and one JZ swap. As far as performance, the JZ performs well enough to do the swap. you have the right crossmember, you just need to pick up a swap kit, water pump, timing belt, extend the factory 1jz harness, I/c piping, I/c, Fpr, possibly new P/S lines. Id get a sandwich plate for the oil too. the alternator is moved to the other side of engine Also. the 7mgte just basicilly bolts and plugs.(performance is barely worth the swap tho) IMO
