I plan to put on a single turbo on my 1JZ, but have some concerns. Should I just buy a 2JZ MHG with ARP Head Studs and then torque it down to 100 ft/lbs? It's a HKS 60-1 with an upgraded thrust bearing. Up to 29 psi max. Will the head take it? How about my internals, can anyone help me with this set-up, I believe I have the all the basics, fuel, intercooler, manifold, engine management. thanks.

Although your turbo will boost up to 29 psi, i would imagine you wont be running that boost so dont worry about..

These guys can send you a replacement 1JZ HG if you want it..

Can you please give me advice on my HG set-up, do I specifically have to use that companys HG? Cant I just use a 2JZ MHG? And will my bottom end take that much, any guess as to how much HP I'll be pushing with 25 psi with the proper tuning and supporting mods. Thanks.

The 1JZ headgasket is strong anyway.. if you replace it you'll just be replacing it with a similar quality.

25psi should see you into 550 bhp flywheel, but our BHP figures are different to yours (i'm in the UK) so i have no idea what the US rwhp would be.

Thank you for the advice, but are you telling me that the stock 1JZ HG is worse than a HKS Metal Head Gasket? That doesnt make any sense, isnt it considered an aftermarket product, and why would they sell it if the stock one was sufficient. I'm not trying to counter your advice, I'm just putting out all possible factors and questions into this. Thanx!

nope i'm not saying that the HKS one isnt better, just that the stock 1JZ gasket is good for some big figures.

no need to go aftermarket on the headgasket.
The factory toyota HG is a 1.8-2.0mm three layer metal. My friend works with the Scranton bros race team and they have a 1400hp 2j that runs a oem hg.
put the money elsewhere.
