I recently got my supra. Its a 1994 Black on tan automatic TT. The engine is new , has just been broken in (1k miles), and the only non stock item on the car is a k@n intake. I know a good bit about supra's and mods, but i do not know anything about the electronics, such as boost cut controllers... etc..
I am looking to put out around 380 rwhp, and want to know what i should to to achieve it. I will probably be going with e blitz nur spec exhaust since i dont want a huge, or loud exhaust. I know to do the simple stuff like cam's and an underdrive pully, but im not shure about the electronics. The original engine was shot pretty bad because of a problem with some kind of boost controller, and i do not want to sacrafice reliability, or driveability. Also what effect will an extra 50-70 horses have on the auto tranny? I want to have REALLY nice BPU setup, and want to put the best parts into it. Thanks for your time. |

for the tranny get a remote filter and a remote fluid cooler. for the power mods a dp, exhaust, and 18psi will get you to where you want to be. add cam gears, fuel mapping, and intake and youll be close to 420whp.

is there anything i could do to achieve similar horsepower without runnin the turbo's so high?
I realize 18psi is not much at all but its gettin up there for the stock ones, also, the old engine was shot because of something to do with the turbo's boosting to high or incorrectly, which tore up the engine, which I cant understand considering the extreame duribility of the 2j. Thanks, you didnt really list any electronics aside form feul maping, are any necessary or is a good dyno/tuning session all i would need? Thanks. |

the twins will wear out faster but if you dont run them hard all the time, allow for cool down before you shut the motor down, and change the oil regularly they will last a decent amount of time. these days a set of used stockers can be bought very cheap. when you do your fuel mapping it is best if done with a wideband o2 tuned on a dyno.

depends on how you have been running it. for normal city driving, about 30-45sec. for highway 1-1.5 min. for racing 1.5-2. this is what i do so it isnt necessarily THE way to do it but it works for me and i have 176k miles on original turbos.

Ya well um just go with what he said.I would buy the BPU package from http://www.suprastore.com and you can talk to them to swap out parts for other ones like the N1 they give you for your blitz and get a FMIC and cam gears and I think you would be happy you will never get the real hp of your car with the FMIC on because on the dyno they can rush in air in it like you can when you do highway pulls but I meen you have a goal but with that I think you would be happy.
Good bye BPU Supra Hello 02' Rotrex C38-81 Supercharged M3 |

that is bpu. maybe add a + for cam gears but yes that is considered bpu. the next step is fuel tuning and an fmic.

Hi there a couple of other things you can do if your worried about reliability, you can go for the TRD themostat and radiator cap which will help with cooling and also run an independent tranny cooler.....Power wise well I'd go with the BLITZ SBC boost controller this will give you more tuneability...I have used all of the above netted 402 rwhp @13psi,420rwhp @ 15.6psi and 435 rwhp@17psi.......I also run my car at the first boost setting at the track and the car goes hard all day.....Hope this helps.....
