i really dont understand the profec and probably neither do most of the profec owners but i say use their suggestion of 30% or 0% since it worked for them it should work for you. if it doesnt they toy with it until it hold the amount of boost you want it to.

The gain is to give the turbo boost, 30 percent SHOULD be 14 psi, that should be set on the low setting, and mess with the gain on high boost to achieve 18psi. The gain is only to get the turbo a little bit of "umph" in the top end.

The gain setting determines how fast the turbo reaches the set psi. Let's say you set your psi at 18. If you set the gain high, it'll reach boost quicker (let's say 4000rpm, this is a made up number).

If you lower the gain, it'll create a "leak" in the vacuum so it takes longer to reach the desired boost.

So many people ask, why not set the gain high so the turbo boosts faster. The thing is, if you set the gain too high, it'll create a boost spike. You have to get a perfect setting for the gain, so that you reach your desired boost within a good amount of time, but yet don't have the boost spike.

Let's pretend your boost is set up at 18psi, and you set the gain real high. It'll get to 18psi quick, but once it gets there there's too much boost already building and you might boost 20+ for a few seconds.

This guy just IMed me like last week about this same problem he had with the spiking. He had a loose vacuum line that was causing the problem. You might want to change all the lines. Cracked, missing, unplugged lines will cause spikes or irregular boosts.

Profec is prob the best application for low boost applications. It's knob to control boost is simple and reliable to use.
