I am very interested in the profec-b. I am curious to know if you can actually turn the boost down with it though. Before you give me crap for asking a "gay" question why don't you help me out. I was thinking of the possibility of turning the boost down on the "lo" and up or to normal on the "hi" for city driving purposes. This is just a crazy theory that I probably would never do, but I was just wondering. I read somewhere that you can only turn boost up with any aftermarket controllers, but let me know, thanks.

You cannot turn the boost down below whatever the wastegate setting is for your car. If 14psi is the wastegate setting that is as low as you can go. Electronics never over-ride manual gearboxes.

You can get it down to .6 bar with the greddy profect b *assumning* you have stock cats. If you had a DP you'll probably be seeing 1 bar min

yeah but why would you be able to turn it lower then stock if they had stock cats and stuff...he just said that you cant...
also is there a way that you can mess with the actuator or something on the wastegate to get higher boost for a short period of time like 1... 1/4 run without a boost controller..i remember that my boy was tellin me about his wrx and how he messd witht the wastegate and made his stock turbo boost like 20 psi or something without a BC i believe him becasue he knows is stuff about wrx's ghost |

quote: ummm Well in this case the King is right...the stock wastegate should hold .6 bar assumning stock cats. The ECU controls the addition boost that is over that. Adding less restriction with a dp causes the wastegate to allow more boost than it should...generally it produced in the range of ~1 bar when it has a dp. The Ecu is unable to control this becuase this is due to the wastegate "malfunction" if you will. The Profect actually has 3 settings... Off - Wastegate boost Low boost - Low boost over wastegate controlled by profect High boost-High boost over wastegate controlled by profect |

wrx or not turbos are turbos. 20psi on stock turbo on a rex is asking to buy a new motor. at that pressure the compressor is far out of effenciey range and is probably causing the engine to detonate. i wouldnt try this mod. what if the acuator get stuck or something like that happens. kaboom. not worth one run of glory is it?

If you have race gas there should be no problems running 20psi...I wouldn't recommend it on pump gas.

isnt there a spring mod for your wastegate that allows you to hold a steady boost through out your rpm band?
