Hey guys and gals,
I have a '95 tt bpu+ except for downpipe(I just bought the car like that, don't ask why the previous owner didn't put a d/p on). My friend's '70 nova gets me off the line and I end up playing catch-up but can't get him by the end of the 1/4. I'm guessing the next logical step is to get a downpipe. I live in Ca. so I need to keep a cat(stupid cali. smog laws). Will the suprastore highflow set up be legit in ca. and where will it give me power, at the high end or all the way through? This is for a good cause, if anyone has a suggestion or some helpful info let me know. Thanks all! |

What times are you getting and your buddy getting. My suggestion would be have a catless exhaust 364 days a year and on the 365, put your current exhaust back on. Not too hard to do, just unbolt a couple of things then replace it and bolt it back up. 3.5in dp/mp and exhaust should do you just fine. After that then you could maybe go single, or just do all the BPU ++++++++++++ mods. Don't know how many ++++ mods are out there but others might be able to help you more

My suggestion would be to get someone to fit a good quality high flow cat and get a reputable exhaust mob to fit it. Also get them to make a straight through pipe the same length as the cat and the same thickness of your exhaust. This way you can drive around with the cat in and not get defected for emmision laws, but when you wonna drag your mate you can unbolt the cat and bolt in the straight pipe(3 bolts either side) which should take you no longer than half an hour. just make sure the car(exhaust) is cold when you do it. It is probably a more expensive way to go about it, but if you ever get defected you wont have to revert back to putting your stock exhaust on. I've got a mate that has done what i just said and when he has the straight pipe in he can pop some pretty mad flames out the exhaust on gear changes(which is always a crowd pleaser).
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. |

u can take him easily if you have the RMM dp, but being ur from cali and u dont want all that hassel, go with an exhaust cutout, there selling them at Supraforums, go to the forsale section, there is a group buy

I don't know what times my buddy and I are running because we're just having fun on the back roads but if I had to guess I'd say I'm low 13s or high 12s and my friend's Nova is a few 10ths quicker. I'm not going to drive around w/out a cat because as unlikely as it is, in Cali, if a cop were to find out you didn't have cat anymore you can get UP TO at $10,000 fine.(not worth it!) I guess I'll just go with a d/p with high flow cat. LadyDeATH suggests an exhaust cutout, I'm not sure if that's the same as a bolt in streight pipe or not. I think I'll go w/ a fixed cat welded in place. Has anyone had any experience with the one on suprastore.com? I believe they made it themselves. Is there a better one out there? Thanks for all your input, I really appreciate it!
