I may be moving to Cali. soon and I'm
concerned how to pass the emissions testing.
My Supra TT already has a downpipe that replaces
both cats and Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust.
What do all you do to pass the testing?? Thanks

What year are you? Depending on what year you are they should perform different kinds of test for ODBI and OBDII cars.

My vr4 is a OBDII and I have no precats, but I do run a high flow cat instead of a test pipe.
I did get a CEL, but I installed simulators to take care of that.

Where I'm at, all they do for emissions is plug their diagnostic plug into my car and scan for any errors, if there are no errors, they send me on my way; that and I'm AWD they cant put my car on the rollers.

Your situation, if you are an OBDI car, pre 96+, they'll probably do the whole nine yards on your car, tailpipe test, smog, etc.

If you're OBDII, and you dont have any CELs, then you should be fine and just drive right up to them and let them test.

Any supra guys wanna chime in on this?

Tony

3 options:
1. register the vehicle in a area with no smog enforcement. example, my parents have a place in needles, ca (middle of no where) and my car is registered to that address so i dont have to smog to get tags.

2. put all smog parts on the car before you test it.

3. illegal smog (dont recommend)

Registering the car in a county that does not have emissions would be the best idea if your car cannot pass on its own.

Per what supras_own_u said, do you know if you will be working in a emissions free county different than where you live?

Your title will have your work address on it and your tag will have your work county instead. Its a great loop hole.
