I know most of you guys who own supras don't, but I live in california, and I got a ticket for my thermal r&d exhaust the other day, I wish to sell it and get a street legal system, what do you recommend?
I heard the tanabe ehxuast is the best street legal exhaust on the market, it that true? Thanx guys.

You might just want to add another CAT onto your existing exhuast. That should bring down the sound a bit...if you into fabricating the installation of the cat.
The Tanabe are also 50-state leagal cat-back systems. I don't know if the others are...
You may want to look into the TRD system...since its TRD, its stock. Unless the cop is really anal, which most of them are, they might just let it pass since its TRD. But you really need to have all components ( cat, muffler, etc. ) installed.
Do you have a NA or TT ?? NA with aftermarket exhausts are going to be louder than TT.

I live in Ca also and I have a z28 with Long tubes headers,3" X pipe with 2 racing bullets no cats and I haven't had any tickets yet. I'm waiting for my exhaust system for my mk3.

i have the HKS super drager(origional) and a catless down pipe on my 93TT and its pretty quiet till the second turbo spools then it sounds really good IMO
HKS:intake, downpipe,Super dragger,FCD GREDDY:t.t.,Grex shift knob OZ racing 18's w pirelli p7000 tires http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/798702/1 LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DRIVE STOCK!!!
if you got pulled over with a thermal (quieter than the RM) then you can fight that ticket. then again this thread is almost a year old. an NA can be louder than a TT because the turbo in a way acts like a muffler. i have been considering getting a new exhaust to replace my busted up tanabe (which could probably be repaired) but i dont care for the looks of the RM, however the piping size, straightness, and sound are perfect for what i want.

tanabe is not good. It might sound good but it is something u put on a civic. You own a supra so dont use tanabe. A great exhaust is apexi gt spec good deep sounding not to loud just driving around

please explain. i had the tanabe for about 8 months and it was a great exhaust, top quality, good sound, straight piping, and cost about half what other exhaust of the same level.
