I know that the jdm supra comes with a map system, would it be possible to get the map sensor and ecu from a jdm supra and convert the usdm maf to a map?
It sounds theoretically possible, has anybody ever tried it or heard of anyone doing this. |

It is possible to do the conversion, but then I think its more reasonable to get an AEM EMS. The AEM uses a map sensor instead of the MAF, so you get to be able to tune it and have the MAF gone. Best of both world.

I plan to try this. I will be putting a JDM 2JZ in my MkIII, with US spec 550cc injectors, US cams and US spec turbines.
If that doesn't work, I have a UK spec wiring harness and AFM for a "regular" conversion. |

na you get the JDM ecu and everything that the ecu uses to control the engine, then you just get an SAFC2 or VPC or which ever you would want and you can control the 550 cc injectors very easily

Man, I never even thought about that! ..and an AFC costs chickens4!t compared to some of the other items I am going to be buying for the swap.
I have the turbines and injectors already along with a BCC. I am trying to polish the intake pipes right now in my spare time. |

go wideband, best investment i could suggest =-\
but for the stock ecu just some new o2 sensors. its also real easy to polish the manifold as well. just go get some pregressivly finer sand paper and have at it. when you get to about a 1500 grit start wet sanding, and then 2000 grit, then reallly have at it with blue mag polish or mothers. |

I did my FMIC , starting at 80 grit, and went through to 1500 grit.. then used Mother's aluminum mag polish. I am going to use the same method for the pipes, but I will probably use a Dremel to get at certain tough places [after rubbing off the top rough layer, you can see some dips/seams that are going to take ALOT of rubbing]. Now tell me.. can you do the same to the snails?

taking a dremal to it makes it so much easier. yeah you can also polish a snail that way too, just stuff some tissues or something in the compressor side of the housing make sure no real fine filines get in there if you can and have at it.

My plan for the pea shooters was to unbolt the intake pipes, cover that flat area with a few layers of masking tape and then have at it! We'll see if it really happens, or if I get lazy.
