I have a question, I am trying to help a friend who is new to Supras, he has a 95, like me.

He want to go BPU, after being impressed with my car. He alreay has an exhaust.

He will someday go single turbo, and he does not want to buy electronics that he will have to eventually disguard.

I have a directed engineering BCC, apexi SAFC, and a greddy boost controller.

The total on all that stuff is about 700, do you guys see any merit in purchasing an AEM EMS instead of all these piggy packs as far as performance, can you make more power with the stand-alone?

Obviously you can make more power, that's the whole reason behind it. However, it requires a lot of tuning and you have to be a bit more careful with what you do with the car. It does not adapt like the stock ECU. What is tranny used? With the AEM, you can really feel a difference if it's an auto, the shifts are faster.

When you say a bit more careful, what exactly do you mean? Not driving it too hard?

The price of the AEM EMS alone- outside of a solid day+ on the dyno- is enough to make any checkbook recoil in horror. However, the rats nest of piggy backs is just not going to get the job done correctly. Maybe buy one or two to have fun with. But many guys just don't stop and sell their piggybacks when they start making real power-They just add more piggybacks. IMO, cool for just a little more power, but stand alone is the way to go when you get serious. Piggybacks just don't have enough user definable tuning points, in the end something will suffer in the power curve.

For the best supra part prices around

With the AEM, you can make a mistake and the engine could go kaboom! However, when you use a very competent tuner, i.e. Sean from Torquefreaks.com, you can hell one crazy beast in your hands.

Also, with the AEM, you will see a change in peak horsepower, but it's really the midrange where you will see a huge increase. A guy called BLKMGK saw an increase of about 120 rwhp in the midrange!! Eek Crazy stuff!!

Or does the AEM allow you to control the boost level as well??

The AEM is an Engine Management System. That means it controls everything. You can control boost, timing, AF ratio, coldstart, etc. You basically replace the stock ECU with one that you can adjust yourself. Obviously you control boost. You can adjust boost for different gears, for different loads, etc.
