Hey guys im new to this board, I know that it is possible to do the conversion, but I was wondering if anyone knew how hard it was and if it was worth doing. I have to put in a new engine anyway, cuz my 5m has a cracked block and I figured if I was gonna have to put a new engine in it might as well be the bigger engine.

If it is worth it is a relative question to your skills. There are also a couple of different ways to approach the 7M upgrade in the MKII. Again how easy or hard they are are all based on your skill level and tools you have at hand. The 7M once in your car will be able to produce 400 horsepower quite easy given proper prep and aftermarket parts. Given the alternative which is to take the 5M and replace it with the 6M which is a 3.0 same as the 7M just a 12V instead of a 24V is easier. The skill level is much lower. The price is cheaper but to obtain 400 horsepower in a 6M requires more expensive parts and again a higher than normal mechanical level. The parts are available to do it just not in a direct manner as you will have to mix and match aftermarket parts meant for the 7M to the 6M. It would probably help if you listed what you are after on your car.

Well I am realitivly new to the import scene, but I have plenty of tools and have done alot of work with domestics. I would like to pull 12s in the supra. I am just wanting something that I can cruise aroud town in with excellent handling and still smoke the occasional mustang if need be. If you know where there is a tech article of some sort on either one of the conversions that would be great. I just wanna know how much harder the 7m is gonna be rather then the 6m. thanks

You will probably find the most concentrated information at Mike Malloys site (www.celicasupra.com). There is also a bit of info at (www.socalsupras.com). Everything you are looking for is obtainable with either combination. The 7M choice will make the 12's easier to get. It will take a little more work in the beginning. Just the opposite for the 5M/6M route. Mustangs will be easy its the Corvettes and Vipers you will want to hunt. Just do as much research as you can and ask as many questions as you can. That way you will only have to buy parts once.

my father has an 84 supra in prestine shape, but the engine is tired...im trying to convince him to do the same conversion..he just bought a solara and he loves it...im also trying to get him to get the TRD supercharger for the solara...anyways back to the supra, how much will the conversion cost?

After doing 2 of these swaps I gotta tell ya there are not for the beginer or tinkerer. The hardest thining will be the wiring under the dash. If you can find or get the wire harness or diagrams then the rest will come with some ease. Good luck.

The price of the conversion is all relative. How easy is it for you to come up with parts? How good are you with wiring? There is only one place to my knowledge that has a set price list and a proven track record. Call Don at (http://www.nix99.com/). He seems to have the conversions down and everything at hand to do them complete.
