I just got offered a 87 supra non turbo auto, the only real bad thigs with it is that it needs a head gasket for $450, so here is my idea.... My idea is to take that car and pull the motor and rebilt it with just about evrything forged pistons, cams, everything and sice it will already have the wire harness and ecu, I can put that motor in my mkII, what do you think do it? o no?

or should I just keep my $450 and invest it into turboing my 5mge??? If look for used parts to turbo my 5mge, mainly I am asking where will I get more power for the money? of course I know it will most likely take more then just $450 to turbo the 5mge but do you think it would take a whole lot more?

I would rather you not get the 87 supra. Its a waste. You're better off just putting a turbo on your MKII. Now here are the options you can go upon. You can get a complete turbo kit from rapidchimp and of course I'm sure you're aware of the price. Or you can get a donor or find a turbo MKIII off of a salvage yard. You need the oil line, the turbo manifold, Turbo, turbo elbow or you can get a after market from www.suprasport.com, coolant lines, intercooler or aftermarket,.. Or better yet check this site out. http://www.geocities.com/suprasupreme/
I'm sure there are many more sites to discover... Depending how much you're willing to invest on the turbo set will be up to your choice. Or if you're thinking about a 7mgte swap that is a different story but for now, its about the 5mgte.

ok I will try to locate a turbo supra at a junk yard, but It will be hard here in oregon these isn't to many of them running around, would you recommend me using the oid line from a old supra that has been in the junk yard? and how much boost do you think I will be able to run on stock injectors? and on the mkIII stock intercooler? I have seen the turbo kit that is on rapidchimp but it seams alot its almost 4k, do you think I will save money in the long run if I just try to find pieces here and there, or would you recommend me to just wait like a year or so and save and buy the whole kit at onces?? also my motor currently has around 214,000 should I rebuilt the motor before I go turbo? right now the motor runs really strong!!

You can either reuse the old oil line if there are no sign of rust. Or you can order it from the toyota dealer. You can run at least 6psi pounds of boost on the 5M. When you turbo charge the 5M you can either use the 7MGE or the 7MGTE injectors and you can use the MKIII intercooler (with that you can do 6psi). *Tune as you boost up and boost carefully* As long as you can get a donor or parts off from a 7MGTE then you can definitely save $$$. Just make sure the CT26 off of the MKIII is still good if not then send it to get it rebuild or maybe even up grade. You can send that to suprasport.com. They can rebuild and upgrade CT26. *They're freaken good at what they do* I live about 20 minute from them. Getting parts off 7MGTE will be just as good as the Rapidchimp turbo kit only different is fabricating the intercooler pipes to fit the MKII. Boost pounds doesn't seem a lot because do to its mass air flow meter. try not to run any cats. and make sure its a complete open 3 inch open exhaust from the turbo out.
I would suggest you rebuild the engine before putting on a turbo because with that much miles on it, after putting on a turbo it would not last long. It'll be a lot easier to do all the turbo set up with the engine out. Or you can get a low mile engine.

ok sounds good, I actually once's again dont know what to do, I put an add on craigslist for people to contact me if they have a 7mgte that they could sell for parts, and to my surprise I got 3 responds just today, one guy is selling his 89 turbo auto, for like $1000 cause he has no title, the other has a freshly rebuilt 7mgte and rebuilt turbo with wire harness and ecu and I think even a used tranny but we have not talked about price yet. And the other just said he has a 92 and has plenty of extra parts even a extra turbo, so like I said I dont know what to do (again). I will see what comes out cheaper if I just buy parts here and there or maybe I can work out a deal with they guy that has everything already and I might just do the 7mgte swap, but either way I will either turbo my 5mge ot swap to a 7mgte, how hard is that swap?
