i just bought a 86 non-turbo i don't know much about cars to begin with but i have always liked the supra's i was just wondering what all could i do to improve horsepower??

It depends on the end use you are shooting for. Do you want to go out and hunt Vipers? Would you like something that delivers performance just a bit over stock. Do you want to be able to run the canyons? Are you looking for better mileage. Do you mind doing an engine change? Are you mechanically challenged? Everything kind of depends on what you want to do with the car.
