are you sure about 14s on your MKII with just air induction and exhaust? From my exprience I once owned a 85 MKII with a rebuilt 5MGE and man, with just minor bolt on such as headers, open exhaust system, and air induction wasn't cutting it. I even bought street slicks for it and I can't even get it to 14s. real talk! I mean not that I don't believe you but I found it complicated for me. I am good at driving my supras but with just basic bolt on performance wasn't good enough. My best time was mid ot high 15s. I can't even break low 15s. And I've seen worst at the race tracks. There are a lot of MkII out there that runs like crap depending on the condition of the engine. A engine with a lot of miles can probably leave you in the 18s. real talk! Yet, you can always do a motor swap. In my case, I had the option on either a 7MGTE or the 6MGTE project. I decided to go with the 6MGTE. With the proper tunning and modification I was able to break low 13s with 20psi.

sorry about that mkIIryder is my buddie he didnt just have intake and exhaust,, but his intake was custome built by him and his dad, he had cat back exhasut intake and some head work and it was tuned his car was really fast i think before he sold it he got it down to the 12's his car was a straight sleepr, right before he sold it me and him were on the freeway back to our house one night, and we raced this viper supercharged, we mobbed all over that thing. He was redlining the piss out of it too ( viper ) his supra was insane and only had minor bolt ons and a few other things nothing much but it also had the 6mge not 5

Hey IR, been seeing you around here a lot. Where'd you pick up a 6MGE? Im pretty new to my Supras and know only here and there stuff. What is it? Japanese 5M Version? Probably more torque and stuff too, uH? How was turbo installation? CT26 or upgrade? |

The 6MGE was something we didn't get here in the U.S. It was only available in Japan and was introduced in 1986 producing 195-200 HP. The 6MGE looks just like the 5MGE but the pistons, intake and crankshaft was different. The 6MGE is not a 2.8 liter it is a 3.0 liter. It offers power and a great torque band. Did I mentioned it used the 7M Crankshaft!.. Turbo installation, you can simply use the 7MGTE turbo manifold and CT26. Look at some of the thread that I been posting for "Turbo TT" and there you'll find some info.
*I'm around here a lot because it seems as a lot of the MKII enthusiast has left this forum to other forums that focus much more on the MKII then the other generations. I've been around this forum for a while now and there are only a few that are active in this thread.* IR |

Oh, You can pick up a 6MGE either through Toysport.com or Rabidchimp. Or like I did you can get it from www.venus-auto.com
I see that you live in Cali so if you do get a 6MGE you "WON'T" PASS SMOG. The 6M does not have any EGR system. Anyway, Venus-auto is located in Sacramento and of course I'm sure you're aware of where toysport is located.. If you're interested, price arournd and they are a little more $$$ then a 5M. IR |
