After washing it today, my 1983 Mk2 looked like the windows had a fairly dark factory window tint on them. I have had this car just over a year now and have noticed this for the first time. Was this the case for these cars. If so, what percentage tinting was it? Whether my windows are actually tinted or it was the just heat playing tricks on me - it made my car look better.

I think the heat is playin tricks on ya ... I've had mine forever and after you wash and wipe it down there's like a clear film of water left on the windows and it's gone when it's completely dry, it's kind of a rainbow mixture looking color depending on how sunny or cloudy the day is and that leaves the windows looking tinted. But if that's not it then you could always drive to the autoparts store and have them stick a tint tester on it...
