Will 7m-gte internals (pistons, rods, crank) fit into a stock 5m-ge block. Also what are all the mods that are needed for the hybrid conversion? I just got my 83 and it had a snapped rod in it. If I can fit 7m internals in it I would like to with out having to go looking for a motor.

Yeah, it'll work. It's called a 6m-ge wink

Not really worth it IMO, just buy a 6m and be done with it. If you use 7m pistons you will have 4 valve indents instead of 2, so you better make damn sure your timing belt doesn't go, otherwise you'll be putting the valves into the pistons.

The 7M crank won't fit in a 5M block, at least not without a fair amount of machining - the 7M bearings are larger.

As Dave said, the 6M is pretty much a 5M with a 7M crank, so you're better off getting one of these (they're cheap) and swapping it in. It's an easy job.
