Hey guys, i just bought a mkIII supra TT auto(yeah i know, just couldnt find it in man.) anyway, i spoke to one guy at a dyno tuners and he said im looking at about 30% powerloss from the engine with the auto tranny. HOwever i just read in the general supra FAQ for the MKIV and Mike claims its between 13-15% powerloss. Well basically my issue is when i took it for a dyno tune, i read 107.2KW(185.5HP)rw and the engine is meant to be reading 154.46kW(267.2HP) so he said my engine is alright and didnt do any tune ups to it. Did he rob me $65 for just doing a dyno or is there not as much powerloss on the auto trannies???? Really would like to know...

The engine is rated at 230 hp, not 267. 185 from an auto is about right.

The 2.5L you are talking about is the 1jz-gte and it has 280HP not 267. I have been trying to save the money to do the swap on my 1989 NA, but with 3 kids it is not that ez. As far as the auto trans, yes you do loose HP with the auto trans. 185HP is right if you have the 7mge motor, if you are geting 185 out of a 1jz-gte there is somthing going on.
