hello everyone, i am new to this forum. i have an 87 non-turbo supra with a manual transmission. one problem that my car is having is that the engine ravs without moving the car accordingly. for example, when the car is put into gear, let's say the first gear and the accelerator is depressed, the car would incrase the rpm but the car would not move as it normally should- with a little boost. then, eventually, the car would pick up speed. what do you think is wrong with it? i apprecaite your help and thank you in advance. otto
you only have 80k on your clutch? you might want to check out some other parts of your engine as well as the clutch, because whoever had it before you ragged the shit out of it....I have a 90 that I just replaced the engine on, the clutch is about 160k old, still good, but was replaced anyway
The seal is right in front of the clutch, and if it leaks it will get right on your clutch plate and cause it to slip. And MKIII90 - did you own the car since it was new? How do you know it wasnt changed before you bought it?
Also, if somebody that didnt know how to drive a stick was riding the clutch for thousands of miles, that will put the nail in the coffin.
there is a leak from the seal as you said. the clutch master cylinder was replaced a couple of yr ago. no, i wasn't the original owner. i had the car for several years.
The plate will erode with the oil on it. Just clean everything up. Be sure to change the crank seal while the tranny is off. If your crank is gouged beyond repair, you can get a repair sleeve that will slip over the end of the crank.
