Would a 2jz 6 speed tranny fit in a mk3 behind the 7m. If so how much work would it require to do so and how much would it cost. If not is there any other 6 speed trannys that might fit.

from what I understand no bolt holes will line up, bellhousing is different, and even if you did swap in a 2jz(bypassing the turbos don't fit problem) you have enlarge the 'tunnel' to make the thing fit.

if im correct, you can use the 1jz bellhousing and then use the 2jz 6speed. you might have to change out the driveshaft to make it shorter and prolly get a diff. rear end.
the shifter will be pushed back tho, it wont be in the same place that the 5speed is. might be uncomfortable

It runs like a POS
It looks like a POS
but can still womp alotta ass

Viperloc: Two problems with that, one the 1JZ never cam with the 6spd and the other is the 1JZ bellhousing will not bolt onto the 7M nor the 6Spd. It's ok to use the 1JZ bellhousing if you want to bolt the R154 to the 2JZ..

milonganisa20: No it will not fit. What ever 6spd you choose it will have to be a custom bellhousing.

no, the 1jz bellhousing is the same as the 6 speed, you can bolt up the v160 to a 1jz, but you cant bolt it up to a 7m. and the v160 doesnt have a removable bellhousing, if it did you would see it hooked to a lot of different cars.

Umm no the 1JZGTE bellhousing is for the R154 and the R154 only.

As I said the V160/161 will bolt to the 1JZ as it share the same bolt pattern to the 2JZ.

thats what i meant, the 1jz r154 has the same outside bolt patter as the v160(side that goes to the engine, not the inside part that goes to the tranny, re-reading it i see it looks confusing.

Wouldn't the ECU get all screwed up with a 6-speed? Confused

If your car has abs, then you will probably have problems there, but I don't think it would affect the ecu.

Please correct me if im wrong, but the ABS and the ECU are not effected by the transmission. The anti-lock brakes release when the sensor on the wheel detects a no-spin condition. The ecu doesnt care about speed, only ENGINE conditions. The transmission is irrelivant.
