Ok, so I looked around, and saw the "Tranny Transplant" set, have it opened right now actually. But I still am not sure WHERE to put the clutch master and slave cylinders.

I will be changing from an Automatic to W58 5spd tranny in my 89 N/A Supra. Some other questions I couldnt seem to find solid answers for. Im asking anyone knowledgeable of chaning out trannys and need some questions answered, so if you answer PLEASE keep this fact in mind.

I HAVE A DONOR 86.5 - 88 SUPRA N/A w/W58 TRANNY.

1. Do I need to change my ecu?
-Will I need to take the ECU from the donor for my car?

2. Can anyone show me a solid picture of WHERE the master and slave cylinders go, or where a good place is to bolt them up is? and how to full set it all up to the tranny.

I think im good on how to put in the tranny, but if anyone could show me pictures, or if someone is doing this mod now, could you take pictures and show me what you are doing so I can piggyback your info Razz

Also, any link to something like this would be very much appriciated, except for the guy who set up the online Supra manual, and the maker of Tranny Transplant's site...I have read those, and still am retarded... lol

Ok, so I am slow, and I didnt see the picture where he tells where the Master cylinder goes. now...slave cylinder would be nice...im reading again, just to fix my idiocy, if I cant find it, I will beg and plead again Razz

ok, the basics:

the car you're building: '89 N/A, automatic.

you're putting in a W58, so you'll need:
-clutch pedal assembly
-brake pedal (the auto one is too wide)
-clutch master cylinder
-hardline from master to chassis near slave
-rubber line from ^ that hardline to the slave
-slave
-transmission/bellhousing
-two "wing" support brackets
-clutch
-flywheel

that's off the top of my head. Smile

1) you don't need to change the ECU. the automatic ECU will work fine even with a manual gear box. (a manual ecu will not work with an auto tranny, thoughSmile)

2)this is relatively straight forward. i don't have any pics, but the holes should all be there for you to bolt everything up. if you really need pics, i can go out in the garage and snap a few for you tomorrow or the day after. just let me know.

the slave cylinder mounts to the transmission. Smile

i know you've seen the cygnusx1 site, but have you seen the exploded diagrams of the clutch system? check them out:

and here's the slave cylinder- mounted to the driver's side of the transmission. you'll see how it goes on when you're under there:

Thank you so much, now all I need to do is get the 500 bucks together for the donor car LOL...

I also just needed a confidence boost in all this, since its basically my first time doing any major car work. Thank you very much for your help. n_n
