It happens going from second to third at 2.5 to 3.5 rpms. It sputters and and acts like its gonna die, then when I step on the gas a little harder, it shoots to 5000 rpms and shifts out between 5000 and 6.5 rpms, like the ECT button is pressed but it isn't. Anybody got any ideas. It has plenty of transmission fluid, and it just started happening today.

1989 Supra. Non-turbo, 3.0 straight six. Stock except for the new water pump and hose I just installed. New weatherstripping installed. About to look into fixing suspension problems. Later changes TBA, lol...

Ok, because I cannot change my post, I'll be a little more accurate with the posting of my problem. Going around your standard intersection turn, it shifts from first to second at 2.5 rpms. Now from a standstill, it shifts out irradically. There is no set rpm it shifts out at now. It feels like the ECT is hung and my computer is frizzed. Like I said before, it has plenty of transmission fluid. What do ya'll think....

What you first need to do is to put two test lights into the wires going to your shift solenoids, that way you can monitor the signal going to your trans and you will then be able to determine if the problem is trans related or if it is an erroneous command from the computer.
