So i've rebuilt my engine and neglected to put a new clutch in. Needless to say as soon as i took it out i burnt up the already used clutch. Does anyone know of a cheap, well made clutch around? I've been looking and i really dont want to risk getting that F1 of XTD crap from Ebay. Also my transmissions 2nd and reverse synchro is def. on its way out. Anyone have a good trans for sale or maybe know of a good rebuild kit? This engine needs to be put to the wheels properly. Thanks guys.

there are a number of great clutch manufacturers out there, including but not limited to:

clutchmasters
spec
clutchnet.com
and the HPF (www.horsepowerfreaks) clutches are nice, too.

as for reverse- it has no synchros. Wink it's a straight cut gear, and that's why it's often difficult to get it into reverse.

try this:

before you put it in reverse, move the shifter from first, to second, to third, then go to reverse. (you can do it quickly, it doesn't matter) that gets mine in every time.

For me I have to do Third, Fourth, Reverse. That one two crap didn't work for me....

What's the Fluid level like in your tranny? My W58 kept popping out of 2nd until I put in some Redline MT90. As far as I could tell, I was low by almost a full quart...

^ haha, so true. i grenaded a w58 that way. the rear seal leaked during winter. i didn't smell it, and there were no signs of leakage on the ground.

it turns out that it only leaked when i was driving, and it all stuck to the bottom of the car. one day doing 65mph, the transmission damn near exploded. haha. scared the pants off me.

so there i was, pantless on the side of the highway, staring at my car as black nasty smelling smoke billowed from beneath my recently turboswapped car. oh, the memories.

i waited for the smoke to clear, hopped back in, put my pants on Wink and drove home.
