I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on brands to avoid and whatnot. It's going on an 87 NA with moderate upgrades... I've looked at unorthadox, but don't understand the differences between the clutches well enough to throw half a grand at them... so any help would be appreciated

For a NA...even with moderate upgrades...

Save your money and go to a parts store and buy a clutch kit with a warranty for $200...

well considering this is the only car I am going to be focusing on for the next year or two, and I was looking to put bigger fuel rail and injectors, I' still like some advice on brands that have given people problems and whether or not unorthadox is worth giving a look at... Thanks

RPS makes GREAT stuff form what i've heard. I'm going with them. ACT is another good brand, but RPS is better. Stay away from Clutchmasters! I'm not to sure about Unothadox. I know that there stuff is more on the expensive side. Wheather that effects quality for the cost, i'm not sure. Just keep in mind that you want a clutch that is rated to your similar HP or relatively close HP Goals. If the clutch is too week you'll slip a lot. If the clutch is too far overrated than it "can" do damage to the tranny.

I dont think that a clutch for your NA is something that you want to spend 500 bucks on. Just go with an OEM spec clutch and save yourself some money. A clutch wont make your car faster.

p5150 has a good point. If you want i know a guy in Canada that sells a custom made clutch kit. He SWEARS by it and he says his customers do as well. It goes for $350 for a Turbo that's rated at 350hp. I would imagine that a NA would be much less. If you're interested email me and i will give you the guys email.

The email address of the guy that does custom clutches would be great. I realize a clutch won't make the car faster, but it will affect how comfortable I am letting my foot sink into the gas as I'm letting off of it... it has a great deal to do with starting feel. Thanks for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated!

I'm in the process of choosing a clutch kit myself for a R154. Just curious to know why you say to stay away from Clutch Masters.

I've been told to stay away from Clutchmasters by several trusted mechanics and one tuning shop. They guys that i talk to LOVE ACT. So since i've had no personl experience w/ Clutchmasters but i do value their opinion that is why i have my opinion.

I have the 6 puck- solid hub, ACT clutch, I love it... If I had a N/A I wouldn't worry about an upgraded clutch, stock supra clutch is a bad ass!!

So you say your Civic has 1.6 liters, my Pepsi has 2.
