the rear end in my 86.5 supra makes a lound noise is this normal if not what is it? do i need a new rear end or what?also i ran a compression test and it was only reading 60-65 what could cause that

have you checked the fluid level and quality. i replaced mine and the noise went away. it wasnt that loud though.

might be your bearings in the axle tubes or the pinion rubbing cause its out of line. Might just have to take it down and inspect it throughly. mine makes a slight wineing sound on the highway whenever i deaccelerate. I guess it could also be somewhat related to the brakes themselves.

try replacing the fuild with redline 75 90! anyways if that compression is from the cylinders it could either be a blown head gasket or worn out piston rings... possibly damaged pistons..
