The guy I sold my MK3 to, said his Speedometer quit working, and that the needle was wobbling a few days before it quit.

Broken speedo cable? (it has over 170,000 miles on it).

Or could it be something else?

probably the lower part of the cable that goes into the tranny. that tends to get the most wear.

but yes, thats what it is. the lower part is relatively cheap from the dealer, but the upper part is like $90.
