How hard would it be to adapt a 6spd Camaro tranny to a MKIII? In the search for greater power, a better tranny could be a nice addition. Not to mention the fact that I know where I can get one pretty cheap lol. What would have to be changed to accomodate the new tranny?

I'm on cardomin now! Take a look here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/836756

you'd have to have a custom bell housing made up, as well as a custom driveshaft, and transmission mount. probably have to get a custom hose made up for the slave cylander, and you'd be better off with a TH400, as they already make a kit to bolt one to our cars. Smile

First, those are poor ratios for the engine displacement.

Second, if the T56 is cheap, damage has been done, or at least it is likely.

It is a nice strong trans no doubt, BW had their act together on that one.

TH400 also known as a turbo 400, which also comes in the turbo 350. It's an auto 3spd with overdrive. Great for drag racing. Mounted with a high stall torque converter there are many cars running what...7's? on this tranny..or manybe it was 8's (that would be in the quarter mile) Made by GM if I'm correct.

you would be better of with the turbo 350, because its lighter and works better. if the capitan of my team is correct the bellhousing for the 350 and the 6speed should be the same if its one out of a ls1 camaro or any v8 chevy car vette, camaro, trans-am, etc. the bellhousing is the same as far as the clutch hooking up there may haft to be some fabrication and also there is the difference between the hydralic and manual clutchs.
