Hello I just purchased a 1987 NA supra with an auto trans, there are two problems that I have come across, one is that when you manually shift it in to 1st or 2end it slips out and into 4th, two is when you put the gas to the floor it shifts at 4000RPM, I checked the throttle position sensor and it is not that, can anyone help?

swap in a 5spd!!! Auto trannys dont hold more than 250hp or something like that. Syock auto tranys suck. Try to get a 90 and up tranny. There stronger. Unless u big plans and want to make alot of power, and if you really want to stay auto, then I suggest getting a hold of Virtual works and get an adapter plate for the powerglide.

Not tryin to rain on youre parade or anything, I have too ask y 1j? I know all about it, believe me, I would kill to get my hands on one. But the parts are just too hard to find. Howevr, someone out there does have one gooing 9sec!!! I guess you really have to know what youre doing with that motor. A that aspect, why not stick with the 7m. If you have questions of power or strength, then go to lvfinalstage.com. My piont is this, Y spend a shit load of money on a swap that is ify, while you stick with the 7M and be a sure thing. Im not tryin to be an ass, I just dont want someone , especially a supra owner, to screw up his pride.

There are a couple of things that made me go for the 1jz, one is that the 1jz is by far more reliable then the 7m motor, it has a better head and block, and can handle 500HP ez, two is that I like the twin turbo setup, my mod plans are to have two T70's pushing 35PSI, keep in mind that this is all over time and with the right mods to help fuel and all other items. three is that if the motor go's out the cost is $800 for another one, and if you look at it this way the 7MGTE is $750 so lets review, the 1jz can handle more HP with out having to build it up, the 7M will need to be build before it can go beyond 400HP (without doing damage) Also I have found a clip for $1600+300 S/H, and after reviewing information for 2 years I have found that the total cost will be $2500, not bad in my eye's. Thank you for your feedback.

Stock bottom end on the 7M can hold up to 700-750hp. 600-650hp is daily driven street car. Whatevers clever, I admit that I dont know alot bout the 1j, but let me no how it turns out.
