I recently bought an 87 N/A A/T, and I already had an 87 N/A M/T. I didn't know it when I bought but the driveshaft rubs on the center support bearing. It turns out that it is shorter than the drivesfaht on my M/T. the mechanic said that it is missing like 7 inches some where. So i Thought maybe it is the driveshaft from the R154, I heard somewhere that it was shorter. Or my other idea is that maybe it was from an 87 celica. does any body have any specs on the W58 + R154 driveshafts? I am buying an aluminium one piece direct swap from www.suprasport.com, and if the drive shaft is still in good condition I was hoping to sell it after I take it off. So if any one knows the differences in the two drive shafts it would be very appreciated. Thanks!

uh, your post is kinda confusing...

but, the automatic driveshaft is shorter than the manual tranny driveshaft. what do you mean it's rubbing on the center support bearing? the center support bearing does exactly what its name says it does... its supports the drive shaft. if you were to take that out, you'd be in a world of shit.

does the car move? how can you be missing 7 inches somewhere if the car moves/drives? that makes no sense. if your mechanic doesnt know that an auto driveshaft is shorter than a manual driveshaft, then you need to find yourself a new mechanic, unless i missed something...
