Ok so we had a bad overheat and blew head gasket. All back together and runs great except that tranny will not shift out of 1st, speedo cable is broken at bottom line, changed tranny fluid and filter and no leaks. Oh and if I put it in neutral while I am driveing it will still stay in first but real slippy. Can anyone point me in the right direction, and there are no trouble codes on the OD light.

Speed sensor is on the back of speedometer, operated by the speed cable. perhaps that is why.

Then follow the TSRM online and pull the DTC's. The trans is fully computer controlled. It should have some info.

Today I got a 61 transmition code, defective number 2 speed sensor in the automatic transmission. It is shifting correctly now but kind of rough in over drive. I cleared the codes and same code came up after driving a bit.

Oh forgot to add that the speedo cable was separted under car. Used a hose clamp to hold the ends together and it shifts fine now. Still has the code though. If you know what this is, is it possible to do this myself or is it something that will need a professionals touch???
