If the drive shaft you are talking about is the one piece aluminum shaft it is NICE.
MUCH LIGHTER THAN STOCK BY FAR! A friend bought one, and my center bearing may need replacing, so when it goes I will buy one. It drops about 25-30 lbs I believe as well!

Can I use an auto tranny turbo drive shaft with a 5spd turbo drive shaft? Are they the same?

I just got my auto drive shaft and later next yr, I wanta swap in a manual tranny... can I reuse the aluminum drive shaft?

Personally, that would be among the last mods on my list, because I dont forsee a noticable gain. Unlike a flywheel, the stock driveshaft diameter really isnt that much wider than the output shaft of the transmission. A flywheel, on the other hand, is about one foot in diameter. When compared to the crank, you can see where weight and mechanical advantage comes into play. Also, a driveshaft isnt subject to the constant change in RPM that a flywheel is; it sees a more gradual rise in speed.

Is there a power gain? sure. Is it worth spending 300 bucks? I dont think so. I think you would have better results spending your money on beer and hookers - at least you would have a payoff for your cash.

Stock DS weighs in at around 34-35 lbs if I remember correctly and the alluminum one weighs 11 lbs. That combined w/ the lw flywheel lets you get more power to the ground w/ less drivetrain loss.

I have both and it is money well spent if you have pretty much all the bolt-ons already.

No. The manual drive shaft is slightly shorter. If you're interested in selling your auto driveshaft, I'll take it. Drop me a line: rocko414@hotmail.com

Hondas are like the special olympics. They might win the race, but they're still retarded.

I've just heard that a auto driveshaft is shorter than a manual driveshaft. And all I need is a new aluminum pipe of the same grade/thickness to replace the auto one. They would re-weld the ends to the new shaft. I'm keeping it.

Anyone know the measurements on the one piece for the R-154? The length and yoke size, splines, etc. I dont have the tranni yet, and I know its different from my auto that im swapping out. I'm gonna have one made, it'll be cheaper and I wont have to wait for 4-6 weeks for it. Let me know, thanks.

I had originally posted a new thread but this seems to be just what I had been looking for. The argument of whether or not its worth the cost to upgrade aside, is the aluminum driveshaft going to be safe to take to high horsepower? Say near or beyond 600?

Aluminum seems like such a flimsy material for that much stress...
