when i launch hard enough to break loose I get pretty bad wheel hop. also with the wheel hop my shifter will darn near shake out of my hand. is that normal for the shifter to shake or do i have issues?

I'm not sure about the shifter thing, but I'm pretty sure that suprasport.com sells traction arms that I think help take care of that wheel hop.

your shifter shouldnt move that much. check your tranny mounts, and your motor mounts. something is probably broken.

suprasport sells traction arms for the MKIII. they're nice. ima get some in the future.

thanks for the reply shaeff. I checked the trans mount about a 2 months ago and the center big bolt was backed off quite a bit. but didnt solve the shifter issue. how besides visually torn would i know if my motor or trans mounts are damaged. it doesnt seem to have any engine vibrations and it doesnt torque over to far when you hit the throttle.

also are there any aftermarket mounts for engine and trans. I saw some solid engine mounts but those are probably not streetable.

hmm, i would just look for visual breaks in them. if it doesnt torque everything over much, i suppose your mounts are probably ok.

SOLID MOTOR MOUNTS! they're very streetable. you'll just feel a little more vibration with them. if you have a pre '89 car, you can weld them yourself. thats what i'm going to do.

check out this thread:

its got some good info. good luck with your decision! you probably just need to get some good traction arms.

are solids really worth it? I've heard extreme opposite opinions. I need mounts really bad before I can even put my engine back in (89+) and I can get solids for $155 shipped. What's the going rate on used stock mounts (3000km on them)

thanx

im hearing some pretty mixed opinions as well. But youll never know until you try. i may just end up going with semi solids.

If i go with full solids there is no way im paying 150 for them. all it is round stock cut to the right length with a hole in the center. An aquaintance of mine has a machine shop he can fab me up a set.

as for the used ones i have no idea.

so like, the rubber tore off my old mounts, would it be bad to just drill a hole through the rubber and run a really long bolt all the way through it (threaded on both ends) and then just bolt it to the metal part of the mount and then to the car? haha..i'm cheap
