On the drivers side of the trans there is a small inspection cover.
Unbolt the slave cylinder, and unbolt the cover, you can then pull off the clutch fork.
This is what is holding you up.

are the reason I got a free transmission with my short block. Big Grin There is a clevis bolt held in with a snap ring. It is the fork that disengages the clutch that swivels on the pin. Just pull of the snap ring, pull out the clevis bolt, and STOP PRYING on your shit!

Ahh the tricky R154, it always has to be different. The first time I dropped my trannyI didn't see the bolt way on the top, many curse words were used Big Grin

Okay, no offense, but all you guys need to go look at a service manual for the r154. First, remove the TWO inspection covers on the bellhousing, then remove the slave cylinder, Then unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel(6 12mm bolts) through the inspection covers. you will have to turn the engine with a socket and breaker bar to get at all the bolts but even doing it alone it only takes like 10 minutes max. After the pressure plate is off the flywheel the tranny will slide right off block clutch and all. Plus doing it this way makes it much easier to get at the pin that holds the clutch fork in. Trust me, I've done it twice in the last 3 weeks(once removing tranny from blown motor and installing new clutch with that tranny on jdm motor, and the second time last night removing the piece of shit clutch disk and pressure plate I got from centerforce that lasted all of a week, yeah a Week, under STOCK 7MGTE power!!!!! )

All in what you like man. Personally I found it easer, when removing the transmission, to just pull the pin on the clutch fork.

LOL yes the manuel does say to remove the pressure plate bolts.
However, having had my tranny down more times than I would like.
I can attest that it is easier to leave the pressure plate up and pull that fork!!!!
The manuel also says to remove the upper radiator hose LOL. read it and see!
