Ok, pulled my motor today(build-up), Unbolted the bell housing, taped it a little bit to free it up and went to pull it off and i only moves about 1-2 inches from the block. I PRYED the shit out of it with no avail.. I made sure it was not in gear, looked for bolts or snags and can fine a thing... Am I missing somthing??? WTF? I have never had this problem with any other car. Is the a special word or phrase U must say in order to get this Tranny off, because I have tryed every cussword I know????? PLEASE HELPPPP.. oh yea its a 90MK3 Turbo..Manual trans....

On the drivers side of the trans there is a small inspection cover.
Unbolt the slave cylinder, and unbolt the cover, you can then pull off the clutch fork. This is what is holding you up. |

Ahh the tricky R154, it always has to be different. The first time I dropped my trannyI didn't see the bolt way on the top, many curse words were used
What do you mean turn down the boost!? |

Okay, no offense, but all you guys need to go look at a service manual for the r154. First, remove the TWO inspection covers on the bellhousing, then remove the slave cylinder, Then unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel(6 12mm bolts) through the inspection covers. you will have to turn the engine with a socket and breaker bar to get at all the bolts but even doing it alone it only takes like 10 minutes max. After the pressure plate is off the flywheel the tranny will slide right off block clutch and all. Plus doing it this way makes it much easier to get at the pin that holds the clutch fork in. Trust me, I've done it twice in the last 3 weeks(once removing tranny from blown motor and installing new clutch with that tranny on jdm motor, and the second time last night removing the piece of shit clutch disk and pressure plate I got from centerforce that lasted all of a week, yeah a Week, under STOCK 7MGTE power!!!!! )

LOL yes the manuel does say to remove the pressure plate bolts.
However, having had my tranny down more times than I would like. I can attest that it is easier to leave the pressure plate up and pull that fork!!!! The manuel also says to remove the upper radiator hose LOL. read it and see! |
