What's the opinion on lightweight flywheels? Good? Bad? Does a person have to match an aftermarket clutch to the new flywheel or are they always compatible...?

you dont need to mate it with an aftermarket clutch. i have a fidanza 11 pound flywheel and i love it. the revs are so much faster. i mated it with a clutchmasters stage III clutch, but you can use it with a stock clutch if you wish...
the benefits- less horsepower lost through the drivetrain because theres less rotating mass, which means more horsepower at the wheels, as well as faster revs! -shaeff (edited due to my own stupidity This message has been edited. Last edited by: shaeff, |

shaeff, i think u need to reread ur last statement about the benefits. shouldnt it be "less horsepower lost through the drivetrain bceause there's less rotating mass, which means more horsepower at the wheels, as well as faster revs!"?

LOL! Yes, I know what a lightweight flywheel does!
The reason I asked is because I have seen some performance clutches advertised that are for use with ONLY the stock flywheel. This led me to wonder if one has to be careful to purchase the correct lightweight flywheel with the correct aftermarket clutch. |
