I have w58 w120k on it.Im building gte motor to swap in. (havent decided on wich clutch yet)Would shaving the stock flywheel be as effective as bying a new lightened one?

i think you'd have to take off too much to make a difference, and that would probably make the flywheel less durable, not to mention that you'd have to get it balanced too.
sorry for the skimpy answer, i was at work.and i believe the stock flywheel weighs roughly 20-22 lbs, and a fidanza weighs about 11. thats alot of weight you gotta cut off...

I have the Fidanza flywheel and it is 11 lbs and the stock flywheel that I had wieghed was 33.5 lbs. That's huge, I wouldn't shave the stock flywheel because you'll shorten the life of it.
