I recently bought a 1993.5 Toyota Supra Turbo. It has been modified and I am trying to finish the car. I will list what has been done to it so you can possibly help me with my questions.
Mods: Engine Block: "¢ 2JZGTE "¢ Hand Ported Block "¢ Bored .20 over and Honed "¢ JE Pistons "¢ Total Seal Rings "¢ Carrillo H-Beam Rods "¢ Billet Main Caps "¢ ARP Main Studs "¢ ACL Bearings Cylinder Head: "¢ Full Port and Polish "¢ Multi Radius Valve Job "¢ Pro Alloy Valves "¢ PHR Bronz Valve Guide "¢ Ferrea Dual Valve Spring "¢ Titanium Retainers "¢ HKS 272 Intake Cams "¢ HKS 272 Exhaust Cams Performance: "¢ GT 62 Hybrid "¢ Powerhouse Custom Aluminum Intake 40% increase in volume "¢ HKS Race Gate Wastegate "¢ Greddy Blow off valve "¢ Greddy 3 Row Intercooler "¢ Powerhouse 175amp Racing Alternator "¢ Nos direct port 6 fogger system "¢ 2x Zirgo Fans fully polished "¢ Fluidyne Radiator "¢ HKS Evc EZ Boost Controller 2.5kg "¢ Powerhouse Fuel Rail "¢ Dual Walbro 255 "¢ RC 750 Injectors "¢ 3"Down pipe "¢ Tanabe Stainless Steel 3" Exhaust Drivetrain: AUTO 4 speed--refreshed recently "¢ TRD LSD assembly "¢ TRD LSD side carrier bearings "¢ Redline trans fluid Electronics: "¢ Greddy Air/fuel Gauge "¢ Greddy Temp Gauge "¢ HKS Fuel Controller "¢ HKS Vain Pressure controller Exterior: "¢ TRD- Hood "¢ Pia Headlights Interior: "¢ Powerhouse Custom Chromoly Roll Cage NHRA Certified "¢ RCI 5 point harness Suspension "¢ TRD Sway bars "¢ Tanabe Coils "¢ Kyb Struts "¢ Enkie 03 Staggered The car came untuned and I have installed an AEM wide band so it's some what tuned at 14 psi. 1st Question I know that the base fuel pressure is supposed to be around 40-42 psi at idle. I have heard three different ways to checking it. 1st is to have just the ignition on with out the car running. 2nd have the car idling and adjust it. 3rd is to have it idling but to pinch the vacuum hose going to the aeromotive fuel pressure. I am not sure what is the best way to check it and it makes about 4psi difference on which way I do it. 2nd Question. The auto trans is only good for about 400 whp. I want to keep the car drivable and cruiseable on the street but also be able to hold 700+hp when I run it at the strip with Nos. The TH-400 power glide would work but not very street able on the highway with out high rpms. 3rd Question. I used all my cash I had available to buy the car so I don't have a lot of spare cash now. Should I go ahead and get the new trans even though the trans is still fine or do I go ahead and spend the money on installing an AEM standalone. Thanks for all the help. This is my first Supra and I love it. Eric M. |
