I'm sure that it is possible, but finding a shop that can do it will be hard. It's probably also going to have a pretty hefty price tag. But, if you are hell bent on getting it, go for it. Some of the hard tops are rare and worth some money, so i would check into that before doing anything else.

exactly. Unless you've got a 1000+hp supra with a hardtop and you want a targa...please don't cut it up. If you REALLLY want one that bad, sell your damn car and buy another one with a targa.

Somebody post a link to the website that gives the stats on the quantities of how many hard tops/targa/turbo/color and all that other b/s

To make a hardtop a targa, ideally you would need the whole top portion of a targa. Then you just replace the whole top, bondo, and repaint. You just can't cut the outline of a targa, and fit a targa in.

SuperEvoRacer,
I wouldn't do that...You don't how the body is going to react in terms of torsion and rigidity, as well as don't know where the normal targa version is reinforced or not. You could just screw up the whole body (especially if you've got a lot of power) and make it weak for a potential crash.

the roofs are about 700 from a dealer, plus painting it. try salvage yards, car-part.com, or ebay.

like i said, salvage yards would be the cheapest way. just pick up a phone book and call every yard in there also use car-part.com. if all else fails, bend over and buy one from the dealer Eek

Dude you'd be better of selling your hard top and buying a targa, I personally would never buy a hardtop as "body rigid" as they are I couldn't care less if your that concerned with body rigidity buy a car that never had a removable roof in its line up. Heres a rule to live by:

"If it's not a Turbo and has no Targa it's not a SUPRA"

"My idea of a big block is a 3.0 liter Inline 6 Turbo"

I dont think thats a good idea, you are going to have alot of problems with it. i would stick with the hardtop, or sell it and get a targa top. Never cut a cars roof off you never know what can happen .
