Im about to buy a SC300 5spd with the notion of doing the motor, tranny swap and having it set up for the track (road course). can anyone reflect on the chassis of the supra VS the SC300 (97 in my case) is the supra just simply better built for track racing? can the SC be modified to get close to the supra? or are they relatively the same?

This project will cost you more in the end and leave you with a heavier car. just get the Supra to begin with if that is what you really want.

supras are going for 23-27Gs (for a 93 TT 6SPD) at least those are figures im getting, and i can buy this 97 Lexus for 15. after the 11Gs for the motor/tanny swap, im at 26ish with a 97 chassis. it would be cool to have somthing different, and i really dont care if i have a supra or a SC300. im used to Lexus, iv got a LS400 right now that i sport. this next car is going to take the place of my LS. it will also be my daily driver.

how much heavier are we talking? 300lbs? 500? 800? what about front to back weight ratio, is the supra closer to 50/50 then the SC? only thing i can see is that a supra is a super sports car, designed with sportyness and racing in mind. is SC doesnt, or does it? thats why im asking, can anyone compare to two chassis? Confused

Sniper: Well, im an SC300 owner right now in the middle of my TT project and im telling you the sc300 is just as much of a track car that will be very very competitive to the supra. The supra i believe is slightly lighter. BUT both can yield excellent power outputs. This topic has been killed left and right over the lexus boards. in the end, most of the ppl who want the luxury but with the growl of a supra take the lexus. Those who are straight sport car enthusiasts would take the supra. Its all a matter of taste really. Keep in mind that one of HKS' track cars is an SC300 aka soarer.

There is a lot more to a TT Supra than an engine and tranny. How about install charges and custom fabrication? How about suspension? Are the driveshafts, rear ends, steering etc... the same? People always say its beter to buy a TT Supra than try to take aan NA and make it a TT. The bottom line is you will end up spending more money for something that almost performs as well but doesn't. If you want the extra luxury and are willing to pay (you will end up paying significantly more once your done) a little more than go for the SC.
