Im sure this has been posted before but things change. Im wondering what everyone thinks is the best gauges and dash setups. Detailed explanation and pictures if possible.
I have a 97 black supra and Im thinking about doing the dash up with blue LEDs and changing my TRD tach to blue LED's (which Im still not sure if it can be done since I havent seen one) as well as the ODO, clock, AC cluster, window switch, trac off. If I do this with the TRD tach I will be keeping black faces with the blue LEDs. I think that would look good on a black supra and better then white faces and plus I would have to change the TRD tach if I went to white faces. What does everyone think? Also if I do everything like this what gauges do you guys think I should get? |

Here is a decent picture of what I want my to look like, just with a TRD tach instead. What does everyone think?

i like the simpiler look. white led backlighting. 98, TRD or celica steering wheel, all gauges black faced and have a stock look to them. 2 gauges in a-pillar. if the car is daily driven then keep the a/c vent and clock, if the car is not daily driven then put a gauge in the a/c vent and in the clock position. thats all you need imo.

why does everyone now put the 2 pod pillars? I kinda like the 3 pod pillars that replace the whole side there. It still looks like a stock piece just that the pods look like they are actually part of it instead of them looking like they were just attached. What are everyone elses thoughts on this? Am I missing something about these 3 pillar pods?
Also I might get rid of the clock but I'd never take the vents out just because even if it was a weekend driver, for me, I need air. For instance this summer its reached over 100 degrees here and I would be wishing I had that vent. Also can anyone tell what those gauges are under the radio? Im still not sure what gauges I really want to go with. I was thinking about doing the Carbon fiber dash and then get carbon fiber gauges and put blue LEDs in them but it seems like alot of people are shying away from the carbon fiber right now. (Note: that picture is just a basic idea of the colors Im looking to do.) |

Instead of me explaining it all you can read the threads all about it. Its a european site but I know its also talked about alot on the original supraforums, to bad I cant get on that site and its been down for what 6 months now or something? Anyway here is a site with some specifics...
Supraforums.com.AU The picture is on page 8 and as you can see its a big topic, theres already 11 pages worth of info and theres alot more if you search around. |

another useful site: http://www.internetwork.org.uk/led.htm
i would love to do it on my car but i am not comfortable enough with electronics to do it. Blitz nur, akimoto + k&n, dp, clamp mod, sping mod, time to get some 100 octane Always imitated, never duplicated |

I really like the pic on the second post those blue LEDS they look facotry even though they aren't. I have an mk3 but on my mk4 i plan to get I'd like to do it like that or something. I have the white faces that are blue at night on my mk3 along with a 3 pod pillar, all other lights are still green however

to me blue= ricer. color for that matter= ricer to me. can you do this mod and still keep the light dimmer functional?

Supras_own_u can you find a good example or the MK4 dash with white lights. I've heard of people doing that but I've yet to see a picture of one all put together and I would be interested in seeing it.
Also once again why do people buy the 2 pod pillars instead of a full replacement with the 3 pods built in? I was going to buy a full 3 pod pillar and replace the whle piece but not if there is some type of problem with them. |

I don't agree that blue is ricer, but hey thats your opinion. Mine came with a dimmer switch and I can dim them to the point they are off for those days where you can see gauges easily but its raining or something requires lights to be on. I like mine I put a brushed aluminum trim piece around my gauges and am getting the whole dash done in brushed aluminum soon.

I also disagree with the blue comment, especially dark blues. I think blue looks dead sexy especially one a supra when done correctly. Its just sad to hear that since since my favorite color is blue. I dont think that should make me a ricer because I prefer one color over another. I understand if you are talking about a very cheap flat blue or a very light blue, sort of like sky or baby blue. There was a baby blue honda around my town a while back and that thing screamed ricer.
For instance would you say that this blue makes it look like a ricer.... Or how bout addrockTT from supraforums, that I'm sure everyone has seen which I actaully think is a tad to light of a shade ... |

sorry im not a fan of RSP. MSB, black, white, maybe red, those are the only colors you need imo.
heres some pics of white led dash:
the 3 pod is a little annoying because the top gauge is like right in your face, thats why it is unpopular. |

Thanks for explaining that 3 pod thing to me. Thats one thing that did cross my mind.
I'm starting to relly like the white led's. The only thing I dont like is how the gauges have the orangy color on the inside for the km/h. Does anyone know of how to get around that? Also is there a way to change the red needles? I know there basically a standard but Im curious if anyone has done that or if its even possible. |

I can't understand why someone who likes Supra's would dislike RSP its a gorgeous color and realy shows the lines of the car well. And dark blue gauges look classy and nice. But to each his own I just like RSP and blue in general along with gloss and metallic black

i love the white LED dash
is that a kit or just a bunch of LEDs? |

LEDs soldered in. i hear you can buy direct replacement bulbs so you dont have to solder in resistors or leds. |
