Toyota uses a thermometer instead of a potentiometer on the valve. Its picking up lots of heat. The valve itself, the modulator, the temp sensor could all be at fault.

Which EGT gauge & thermocouple are you using? What temp is the warning light/buzzer set to alarm at?
My immediate advice? Turn the boost down until you determine what the actual problem is. There's no reason to drive the car hard enough to set off an EGT alarm, IMHO. Find the issue, fix it and then carry on. Even if it's a false alarm, better safe than sorry. Say it's not a false alarm and you melt a piston - that's not a cheap undertaking... Another $0.02 worth. |

Okay, from what your post says, your making it sound like the car has a stock egt alarm.
What EGT gauge do you have and where do you hvae the prob mounted? I have mine on the top of hte downpipe and i hit 675. I have it set to 700c. I have a blitz gauge on mine |
