im guessing manumatic means auto. once you go past bpu++ a new tranny will be needed. the manual can take over 1000 hp.

500-550 then you'll need a built auto tranny
i think the built auto trannys are stronger then manual trannys anyways

that depends. most of the auto trannys that i have seen say they are proven for 800hp were as the manual stock has proven to hold over 1000hp.

if manuals were stronger and built better then you would see drag cars using stick trannys 6 speeds are fun and good for streets thats about it

Stock, the A340 a/t can handle around 500bhp... if you wanna go higher, certain parts in the tranny need to be upgraded, so that it can handle higher HP (basically so that it shifts harder, and tigther). I actually haven't done this upgrade to mine cuz I don't need it (yet), but ya I have heard numbers in the 800hp+ range are possible.

or just get a built trans and torque converter for ~4000 and save yourself some money.

the reason 6-speeds aren't used on most drag cars is because most drivers can not shift quickly enough and also the getrag is more difficult to launch. truth is most drag cars dont use manuals or automatics especially when you go up into the funny car class, they use a sequential transmission which is shifted like a manual with a stick but has no clutch pedal like an auto these set-ups can easily hold 1400 horse power and shift instantly and this is built just like a manual so you dont loose power through the tranny like in an auto. no automatic set-up can even rival a sequential
