The VPC sensor when calibrated has shown it runs out of resolution around 28spi, so all of us that have run beyond that level have been on our own.

If you do want to venture out there into nomans land, please - only do so with a wideband O2 sensor. VPC guys on the mkiv list have gone to 32-35psi, but with an additional piggyback between the VPC and the ECU. Something like an AFC or GCC.

I have a VPC/AFC combo and have seen 30psi.

big grin Nomans land.I like that.My car is equipped with the FJO wideband O2 so I may start tuning for higher boost. Can I replace the VPC map sensor with a different one, like a GM map?

The answer is not how far you can go, because some of us have gone closer to 40psi while spraying. The fact is the VPC sensor runs out of calibration sooner. The GM 3 Bar map sensor varies in resolution and range from unit to unit (imagine that), but it is only 2 bar above atmospheric, so you are in the same boat again.

I suggest ditching the VPC while the market is good for used VPC's and go with the AEM EMS and a 5 bar MAP sensor, like the rest of us. MKIV mailing list, funny, I think I was the fifth person on that list...........

What Mark said. The GM map sensor is a viable replacement, but it's not callibrated for the VPC. I believe that a few guys have done the GM part swap, and with the in-car wideband have been able to do some adjustments to the VPC to somewhat compensate for the different sensor. I think it involved pulling out 10-15%.

If I were keeping my car, I'd go for the AEM part as well. Sure seems like a nice piece.

I will definitely go for the AEM,Im just waiting it out until more people get familiar with tuning the fuel/ignition maps.Id like to order mine and have it preprogrammed for my application (to an extent) In that case I must sit this out a little longer and make the best of the VPC/AFC combo.

I'm not sure but the kavlico(sp?) 5 bar map sensor might work with the vpc and you will need it for the aem ecu so you might as well try it now......if it owrks for the aem that is.....
