I have come across a local seller with a possible black 98 N/A Supra for a price under 5K, now i havnt looked yet but what big things should i look for, other than the standard items. With this price and the potential profit gain is huge (hopefully) i drive an accord now, whats the milage i should say no too?

I posted this twice for urgency

A scam if it's under 5, even for an NA. But if you say it's local, you have nothing to lose to go and see (if it exists). If it's in 1 piece, you got yourself a car.

Even if it has minor damage you should get it. A friend of mine bought a 98 NA for 21k.

well.. pretty much anything and everything

is there a speed limiter, most of my questions would be specs, becuase i havnt seen this car yet. i know all the turbo, and differences between the tt and so on.

i plan on going all motor for a while based on price, but if all goes well maybe a swap.

just give me some links to read up on

Speaking of VVTI, If ya did the swap it would be cool to get the 2JZ-GTE With VVTI

are there any benefits of having the vvti, other than 5 extra horses. Or is it constricting to modifications later on?

It makes since that it would be harder especially when port polishing the head, etc. So I see where thats coming from. Still it would be nice to have a stock or BPU supra with VVTI just to have one being that they are rare.

Not to keep my topic at hand, but i checked with toyota with their online vin checking. And it displayed the engine as 2AZ-FE which isnt found in supras? correct

I'm going into this with a cautious mind.

iirc only 98+ jdm tts had vvti, come to think of it i dont think ANY GTE had vvti but i could be wrong.

Professor- the supra you are looking at uses a 2jzge. i think i smell a scam.

If you dont drive it dont buy it sounds like a scam for sure. 2AZ-FE and you got this from the VIN. Watch your ass man this car is huge for scam artists.

I checked around and the vin checker i used might be a little faulty. But thanks for the heads up. Is it in my best interest to take it to a Toyota dealer to check it out or somewhere else? I smell scam too, but hey it might just turn out to be a deal of a lifetime. Are there any extra places the vin are in the supra. Driver side door, engine block (but where), dash... Where can i find the engine models of Toyotas lineup so I can verify them.

Thanks for the education

if its a mk4 supra, it will have either a 2JZ-GE(NA cars) or a 2JZ-GTE(twin turbo) engine.

for a vin check, try carfax.com

if you know the engine designation, try googling it. thats how i found out the 2az-fe went into the camrys and such.
