Just curious, but does anyone have this or know someone who has this on their supra? Any input or further information on this kit? Johann |

could you elaborate on "crank walking"? suprastore sells it.

quote: This is when the crank/thrust bearings fail causing the crank to spin off center (hence 'walking'). I think Rob from RPS had a good post about this on the other forums somewhere. -- Amir Ex-Ricer |

quote: It is nothing to do with the stroker kit that causes crankwalk (although possibly if the crank was heavier it may affect it, not too sure about this). Rob from RPS suggested that starting the car with the clutch pushed in using an aftermarket pressure plate was a big cause of thrust bearing failure, although RPS' pressure plates were well within the load specs of the Toyota bearings. Several people have had this happen without using stroker kits at all. The main reason is that the thrust bearing is not oiled directly, and is only lubricated by 'splash' oil coming from the crank spinning, which means that under a car starting situation there is very little oil getting to the bearing, combined with the extra load from the pressure plate which undoubtedly leads to failures. -- Amir Ex-Ricer |

Ok, I from what I understand, bigger displacement = more torque, right? Any idea if this will put down a substantial amount of torque?
BTW, OneLove, I like your name (marley song) Thanks, Johann *edit* I'm also sorry for the title of this thread, I deleted what I was originally going to call it, but I guess I didn't delete all of it. |

I don't know of anybody personally with the kit. I feel the reason is that JUN is quite religious when it comes to their distributors selling their products at cost. When I assisted Sound Performance in becomming a JUN vendor, I was told by their staff that if they found out any JUN vendor was selling stuff under what they stated we could, the right to sell JUN products to be reduced. In consideration of the price of the JUN stroker kit, I think one can understand a small number have been sold in the states.
From what I understand about the kit, the quality is worth the price. Cosworth makes the pistons and the crank is a brand new one, not some hacked up oem crank. Hope this helps, Mr. Maxwell |

quote: Well some simple math (it obviously doesn't work this linear) would suggest that with 10% more displacement, you would end up with around 10% more torque, which is pretty substantial. If I had a stock Supra block with a bad crank or some other part was on the way out, I would probably go with the stroker and be done with it. Having lived in the UK most of my life I can certainly attest to the quality of Cosworth products. -- Amir Ex-Ricer |

there's a guy in Bahrain got the JUN stroker kit (yellow supra) with T88H with twin wategates and a custom ex. manifold and JUN in. manifold controled by Motec M48 ((guess the RWHP))... the storker has many postive things ex. more torqe, more power and LESS LAG. On the other hand, its expensive, need stand alone ECU to control all the new readings with a perfect tunner...i was thinking to get the kit, but do u think its worth it...take care
