Hi. My '93 Supra is stock N/A with an auto transmission. I am planning on putting a single turbo kit into it. My questions are these:
Will I need to buy a new kind of automatic transmission when I put in the turbo kit? When I decide to swap out the automatic tranny for a manual one, do I go with the TT 6-speed or the N/A 6-speed now that my car has a single turbo in it? Lastly, would it be a better idea to just buy the turbo kit and the manual transmission at the same time? If you know the answer to any of these questions, feel free to repond. Please don't say buy a new car, I enjoy driving the one I have and won't sell it for any reason. Money is really no object here, so I'm going to modify my current car. Thanks in advance for input. |

well for the turbokit im not sure if you need a new tranny because your is a N/a. i dont know how much your tranny can hold. i know a tt auto tranny should be able to 500hp. i think it would cost u alot to swap a new tranny and putting in a new turbo kit. it wont be worth it rather then selling the n/a and getting a TT. i know there is some members on supraforums.com that did N/a T i think they got around like 350ish hp.
just get a 3800 stall ^^ |

basic NA-T (350hp) is about all the NA auto can take. youll have to rebuild the tranny to take the power. an auto to manual swap is very time consuming and expensive. id say sence you will end up spending close $10000 for the tranny and turbo you might as well sell the car and buy a TT. youll end up ahead of the game in the long run.
