Hey is anyone here in the army. I'm trying to go in as infantry for about 4 years then when i reenlist i wanna be a warrant officer flying helicopters. But does anyone know if u go over seas i mean not to war but say german or something like that if u find a car can u bring it back. I heard if your married your aloud the military pays for the transportation of 1 car??

Don't know about the military payment policy, and not one for the army myself (although I support our troops). I do know that moving a car from overseas takes $$$$$$$$.

Ya i talked to a recruiter if your married and i think of certain rank E3 and up. The army will pay to move one car for you. But who knows

Im a marine, and the government will pay to transport one vehicle for you... its kind of a pain in the ass though.... anyways if you get stationed in the states its easier to just drive it to your duty station anyway oh and if you wanna fly helos i wouldnt reccomend going enlisted at all but hey do what you want

Thanks man I know everyone of my family wants me to go to college and get what i need so i can go in as an officer or warrant officer. But I want to go infantry to start out with. Hopefully have them pay for my college and then become a warrant officer. I want to do airborne and air assault training. My dad was special forces and did ranger school and all that. But the reason i ask is what if i go say to japan or europe and pick up a nice car that i may not be able to find over here or something iono?

yeah youll be able to ship it back... even if the military wont pay for it its only like two grand.... and the way the army promotes people... (e-4) straight outta boot camp... you should have plenty of money.... especially if your not a shitbag

How is it staying in Iraq. I mean i don't know too much about it. Are there different bases for army and marine and so on. Or do you share a base. Where do you sleep is it like dorm type stuff? Hell i hope to be in by the end of summer. What do you do anyways?

Shipping cars is not something you need to be worried about. Iraq is a combat theater. You will not be in a "dorm". Not even the air Force, unless you count Kuwait, where you won't be going, excecpt for transit.

its not bad..... yes all bases are shared by all military personell.... and no we dont sleep in dorm things... back in the rear yeah but here no.... i live in a swa hut... basically a one room plywood building... then theres cans... semi tractor trailor things with airconditioning and tv and internet... or you could live in a tent... and that shit would suck... oh and everybase in kuwait is.... well just watch jarhead.... haha

hahah what are the tent things. Have you seen blackhawk down something like that? You know that big hanger looking thing. How long have you been over and when do you come back. Is it true that army stays over there longer then marines by a few months?

nonono nothing like blackhawk down.... its about the size of two average size classrooms put together (highschool ones not college ahah).....its just a big ass tent.... ive been here for one month now... and i should come back in september sometime.... and yes.. the armys deployment is 15 months... marines is only 7

Ya they are trying to shorten army to 12 months. I hope it happens. Are you in like a really hostile zone or anything. Someone told me its better in iraq than afganiztan or what not. What do you do anyways.

eh... well im inbetween Fallujah and Ramadi.. i dont know if youve ever heard anything about those two.... but it doesnt matter.... and i am part of the security element for an engineer batallion..... basically i protect a bunch of pogs from getting shot while they pour concrete in potholes.... haha
